Election Day today - it's the Partisan Primary. In my state, that means that when you come to the polls you can vote only for candidates of one party but you can pick any party you want and no one knows which party you chose. We give everyone 5 ballots - Republican, Democrat, Green, Libertarian, and Independent. The person takes all 5, votes on one and discards the rest. All of the 5 ballots look exactly alike except for the title of the party at the top & the candidate names. Will make it a real bear to count ballots tonight. Hope the majority of people use the voting machine! ADDENDUM: 10 pm - just got back from the town hall. About 1/2 of the people used the ballots so it took an eon to get through all the counting. The election workers told me one voter was so confused by the packet of ballots she finally threw them all away and said she would try the voting machine. Jarita, one of the election workers, got a twinkle in her eye and said that my brother - my own brother - voted by paper ballot and had told her to be sure to let me know. Be afraid, Russell. Be very afraid.

That's what little brothers are for. (I tell Olivia that all the time.)
