I ran a three inch barrel cactus thorn into the side of my foot. It went in quite a way and really, really hurt. You might wonder how one even finds a cactus in a northern clime. When I got my first cat, I found that it liked digging out the dirt in my potted plants. I planted a few small cactus and she stopped. The cactus have grown considerably since then and are easy keeps. I put them out on the deck during the warm months and my bedroom in the winter. The time they spend outside is enough water to keep them all year long. I do water them once a year - at Christmas - because, well, it's Christmas.

Ok, so give me the rest of the story. How did you get it out? The ones I have had resisted coming out the same way they went in.
I lucked (?) out and kicked the Golden Barrel cactus instead of the Fishhook cactus. The thorns are long but only gently curved and come straight out.
Either way, I think that calls for chocolate. (Chocolate cures many forms of ailments. It's a well known fact. Really.)
