Forest seed pods

Orion is working hard these days. As it gets colder, all of the little critters of the field want to get into a nice warm place for the winter and my house looks promising. But Orion, the hunter, is on guard. She has vanquished mice, voles, shrews, moths, flies, crickets, snakes, and now caterpillars. I found her worrying a little curled up fuzzy woolly bear caterpillar. I rescued the little bugger and tossed it outside. As far as Ori is concerned, if it moves it's fair game.
