Watching the storm arrive from the front door

Another snowstorm had been in the forecast for a couple of days.  It was due late Tuesday afternoon so put my errands off until Tuesday morning.   It would be a productive way to feed the need to be busy before the storm hit.  Double checked the weather this morning - should be good until late afternoon - and took off for Churchville.  I stopped off on the way at the recycling locale. Then I picked up a coffee to keep me going.  Loaded up on bird seed and groceries.  Then to Taco Johns on the way out of town for a #8.  I unloaded the groceries at the house and then reloaded the car w/ boxes.  Drove to the village and got the car filled w/ gas and washed.  Stopped off at the post office.  About once every four years the post office wants everyone w/ a P.O. box to prove who they are and their physical address.  They also want a phone number and e-mail address.  I gave them the last two pieces of info though I'm fairly certain I shouldn't have to.  I read their privacy statement that says they won't sell the info but will give it to ... that followed w/ two columns of organizations who could have my contact information for the asking.   Great.   While I was filling out forms the Post Mistress talked explaining that there are certain locations in the village where people get a free post office box.  The village is around 600 people and Third Street is the edge of town yet mail is not delivered on every street.  The more I learn about the Postal Service the stranger it seems.    I stopped at the library.  I brought in the boxes and packed up my display of Lomonosov creatures from the back display case.  A new display is due this month.  I also finished off the library stats for the month of February and gave them to Librarian Colby.  She had her mother in for the day and they were tackling the storage area mess.  She hasn't been here long but, after cleaning out the office and now the storage area, we are going to miss her.  I was back home by four in the afternoon - no snowflakes yet but the sound of the wind past the house was ominous.   The anxious feeling to be ready was gone.  I could settle back and relax.  Warmed up the last of the coffee, grabbed a breakfast bun, and sat down to watch the birds attacking the feeders.  I wasn't the only one that had storm anxiety.
