Making sure the pylon is going in straight.

I stood, drinking a latte, and looking out at the birds as they came in for seeds.   I'd already taken out the garbage, bopped downtown for some errands, and filled the feeders.  Now I could just enjoy watching the snowflakes come down.   Didn't think the Solar Power guys would come today.  They'd called two weeks ago to say they would be pounding in support posts on Monday.  I reminded them that the ground is frozen and there is a rather large electrical line snaking through where they would be working. The man said they had a machine that would go through frozen earth and they'd call Digger's Hotline.  Now, though, we had maybe five or six inches of snow since Saturday and I hadn't seen anyone marking the electrical line.  Not the first time I'd had someone say they would show up and didn't.  After the snow ended, however, there was a knock at the door.  Three guys stood there ready to set posts.  They marked out where the posts would be placed first.  Good - where the rep and I had talked about last summer.  They said they didn't need Digger's Hotline since they would only be driving posts and not trenching.  I showed them the transformer and pointed toward the electric pole at the corner of my property.  "There is an electrical line between those two points that you don't want to pound a post into."  They agreed and brought out something they had with them that located water lines (turns out it works on electrical lines too).   I stuck around to watch the first pole go in (very slick).   I did ask why they were doing this now instead of later in the spring.  I'd thought maybe it was to get in before the road bans went on but their equipment didn't look like it would go over the weight limit.  "We've got lots of jobs planned for this year so we're doing whatever work we can get in early."  he said.  Glad to know they are that busy.
