Hendricks Bros display at Library
No lounging in a warm bed this morning. 'Gun Deer Season' as it's called here would start at sunrise and I wanted to be out and back before the beginning salvo. I had pulled out my blaze orange windbreaker and matching ball cap the night before. Had also changed Whip's harness to glow hot pink (the other acceptable hunting color here). Yesterday Whip and I had checked the path across my property to Neighbor Blake's land. According to our agreement, I don't go on his property in November but he uses this back access as an easy way into his property during hunting season. A dead tree had fallen across this path here too (hadn't realized the winds had blown that hard). I texted Blake that there was a tree down across the path and I'd come out on Saturday and clear the path w/ a chainsaw. Immediate reply that he knew about it and it would be taken care of. Chuckled to myself. Of course they didn't want me out in the woods - even in my part of the swamp - running a chainsaw on the first day of hunting! Well, if they would fix it that was fine w/ me. Checked the fence line between I and Neighbor Bill. At least three places where the fence had been cut and pulled back to wrap around a post so it was out of the way. I checked the ends of the wire. Not bright. So it had been done purposely but not recently. Talked w/ Neighbor Doug. "No one fixes barbed wire fence anymore." he said. "Most people want to get rid of it." I had myself ripped a finger on a rusty barb that afternoon (my doc keeps me up on tetanus shots). The problem areas are all on the half of the fence that is my duty to maintain. Will talk to Bill and see if he's OK w/ me removing the barbed wire but leaving the fenceposts. That discussion will wait until after the end of hunting season - when the woods are quiet and 'plak tow' has ebbed.

Good picture. I think Mom and Dad bought several cars there.
