The Grove

 


Excerpts from the Sheriff's Report:

1:46 a.m. - A person from another county loaned a hunting rifle to a resident and wants the gun back.  Another person will return the weapon as the resident with the gun is a convicted felon and cannot possess a firearm.

2:08 a.m. - Vehicle in park after closing time.  Officer observed what he believed to be "extracurricular activities" were going on.  Two vehicle occupants were advised to "go home to do that."  They were also told to leave the park as it was closed.

11:12 a.m. - Subject laying under camper.  Woman told the officer she was OK and did not want assistance.  She said she was going to head to a nearby town but took off walking the opposite direction.

1:00 p.m. - Someone entered caller's property, cut down a tree, and took it.

5:21 p.m. - ACE Hardware store advised of a handgun denial.

5:37 p.m. - Caller advises a white van driving through yard.  Officer advised it appears van driver is using an easement.  No damage caused due to frozen ground.  No trespassing issues.  Caller told to contact other property owner and sort it out with surveyors.

6:59 p.m. - Woman in her 20s is standing outside the store for a couple of hours.  The woman left prior to officer arriving and matches description of past requests for welfare checks.  Officer informed store owners he can't provide services if the woman doesn't want them.

7:52 p.m. - Caller reported different colored lights.  Farming operations were underway.  Everything OK.

9:11 p.m. - Caller reported coming home and lights are on upstairs when no one should be in the residence.  Officer given permission to enter and secure the house, finding evidence of habitation including empty drug wrappers, empty bottles, and cigarette butts.  Extra patrols requested.
