A Dusting of Winter

Suddenly there was the scream of wind hitting and rushing on past the house.  A weather front coming throough.   It had been calm when the dog and I went out for our nightly constitutional.  Turned on the outside lights and saw the storm brought snow.  Not a lot but we'd lost the snow we had so it was welcome to have the countryside powdered in white again.  The wind kept up through the night and I checked which direction it was blowing.  That's the direction I'd have to look for the garbage can in the morning.  Fortunately for me the snow must have started out as rain 'cause in the morning the garbage can was right where I left it - cemented in place w/ a thin coating of ice.  When I heard the force of the wind hit last night, I had immediately washed a load of clothes, dishes, and me - in case we lost power.  This morning everything was still working.   Guess the ice blizzard last December had felled any trees close enough to take out power lines - something good to come out of that storm.
