Feeding time
This week I'm working on getting out Christmas cards and packages. Not as many people send out cards since postage went so high but I like to touch base w/ everyone at least once a year and a card is the most sure fire method. I also try to write something in the card. Found I need to stop making out cards when I get tired since I stop making sense after awhile. Doesn't help that when I sit down the cat's come prowling around to see what I'm up to and the dog inevitably wants me to come w/ her to check something outside. Whip puts her nose under my elbow and pushes up. Dunder is fascinated by the shiny top of my pen as it catches the light while I write. Blitz likes to just sit on cards or computer. The computer is on 'cause that is where my Christmas card spreadsheet is. It contains what you'd expect: names, addresses, and if I've already mailed a card. I usually have two card designs so it also keeps track of which design was sent to whom and how many cards of each design are used. I enter the date the card was sent and if it was via mail, in a package, or by hand. Using that info the spreadsheet automatically calculates how much I've spent in postage. It also keeps track of received Christmas cards (in fact it shows that info for the last 10 years) It calculates for each year a percentage of cards sent by number received. The spreadsheet holds more info than that but you get the idea that I can get a bit anal-retentive when it comes to spreadsheets and Christmas cards. Helps to stop occassionally and see what Whip wants to check out.

I love spreadsheets! And it's nice to know I'm not the only one who uses spreadsheets to calculate all kinds of fun facts. LOL!
Just about to mail my cards & thinking what a good idea doing a spreadsheet like that. And that I should do one. Yup, I should. Definitely. Definitely maybe. Possibly...

Do you tend to mail out more cards than you receive? Or is that ratio about even? Just curious.
