Barber Shop Display at Library
Out on my errands I noticed the beauty shop was open. In small towns, beauticians often work part-time or out of multiple locations so their schedules can vary. I walked in and asked for an appointment. "I've got an opening at 3:30 today." she said. Only noon - I could be in the mood to get my hair cut by 3 so said I'd take it. Later on when I sat in her chair I said I wanted more body in my hair so cut it short. Figured this is a perfect time to make a change 'cause if I don't like it, I can wear a stocking cap for the rest of the winter while it grows out. She wasn't my beautician when I went through my different-color-each-time phase so she was surprised I wanted a change. To make sure we had a meeting of the minds on what 'short' meant, she brought up a picture on her cell phone and held it out to me. The picture was of a woman's hair style that was poofy on top, long strands of hair hanging down in front of the ears, and hair close cropped at the nape of the neck. The overall look was pretty hideous. "Well, the neck line's OK." I said. That seemed to be the only thing she wanted to know. I'm now sporting sort of a pixie look. Like it well enough to go out sans stocking cap.

I may need to see a visual of the new 'do to understand what you're describing. ;-)
