Autumn on the Lake

Spent a few days w/ Sister Connie and Brother-in-law Dan.  I broke up the trip down by only going part way and staying at a hotel before going through Chicago.  I picked 'alternate route 1' when I took off from the hotel and the car navigated me through Chicago w/o taking me on the expressway's that while maybe faster are at the edge of my driving comfort zone.  This 'alternate route' also took me across the top of Indiana instead of the Indiana tollway.  Actually quite a nice road and little different scenery.  On the way home I did the same and plugged in 'alternate route 1'.  Again I went along the top of Indiana and through Chicago the way I wanted - more or less.  Realized 'alternate route 1' was going to take me on a new path out of Chicago also.  So I saw more new countryside.   By the time the sun was setting and I planned on getting a hotel room,  I was only around 100 miles from home and the rest of the route would be through small towns.  Decided to just drive the rest of the way home.  Whip was happy to see me.  The cats were surprisingly happy to see me.  Even Mr. Dearhamer said he was glad I was back when I texted him I was home and he didn't have to look in on the animals anymore.  (Of course he'd had to clean up two cat barf piles while I was gone so that might have had something to do w/ it.)
