The First Alert Weather Event wasn't that big a deal. Rain started in the night and continued through the day. Total was 2 1/2" inches. When we did go out that morning Whip (who does not like getting her head wet) 'doggedly' put her head down into the wind trotting well ahead of me. She reached the box elder tree we go to and looked back at me. I stopped. "
If you've had enough we can go back." She gave me what passes for a 'thank you' look in a dog and raced back past me to the front door, opened it, and went in to wait for me just inside the nice dry house. A dark day so I lit tea candles around the house. Made the first crockpot of chili for the season. I tasted it. Needed something. Thought over my recipe. It's not written down 'cause it's pretty basic. Chocolate! I hadn't added any chocolate. Usually I have a high quality chocolate candy around and I plunk one or two in and let the crockpot melt and blend. Only had snickers today. Snickers taste good but the chocolate isn't that high a quality and I wasn't sure what the nougat inside would do to the chili. I did have high quality cocoa powder though. Got a tablespoon full and stirred it in. Retasted. Just what was needed to mellow the sharpness of the chili.
