Cold front blew in yesterday which will usher in a series of below freezing days. Everyone was busy doing the last activities before gardens will die and the ground starts the process of freezing. Glad the things I needed to do were all done. Had left one thing to the last minute - the garden poles. They are pretty and during the summer mark the house and Mjolnir in the dark. However I'm not sure what the extreme cold might do to the paint job, their solar lights aren't getting enough sunlight already, and one is right in the path of the plow guy. Stored them away in Sleipnir. While I was doing that the sun made one brief appearance in the overcast sky. The whole countryside suddenly lit up. The birch and tamarack are basically all that's left but their yellow-gold glowed in a forest of darker barren tree trunks. Nice goodbye to the pretty part of Autumn.
