We are going through a warm couple of days (reached 90 today) however it doesn't get that warm until the afternoon. Before going to bed I open up all of the windows and get a nice breeze through the house. In the morning I close the windows and it stays cool for the rest of the day. I watered the flowers early and noticed the hummers are still fighting over the feeders. All of the hummers were females or maybe this year's fledglings. Think the males have already started on their migration south. Probably why the remaining birds are bulking up - they will be on their way soon too. Will start keeping track on my calendar every time I see one. Rule of thumb is the feeders can come down for the season two weeks after I see the last hummer. Noticed some autumnal hues in the forest leaves. A little early but probably a reaction to the minimal rain this summer. Leaf Peeping is the last weekend of the month. Last year it was still fairly green. Think this year the celebration will be more colorful. Made a jello pie today. Perfect dessert for a warm day.
