Phil taking off for a ride

Brother Phil has been so busy w/ his own activities and my KPA list that he's still got 30 miles to go on his monthly 175 mile biking goal.  This  off/on rainy spell isn't helping.  Didn't keep us from taking off for the County Seat library where the newspapers from the early 1900's are stored on film.  Found our grandfather's advertisement for his meat market plus found an announcement that he and his partner were taking over a grocery store in town and moving their bustiness there.  As I said that brought up more questions - A grocery store was in the building where the meat market relocated.  Both businesses had ads in the same paper at the same time.  Where was the meat market originally located?  All Grandpa's advertisements say is "Phone: 14" (a 2 digit phone number?).  We also checked the paper's local gossip section and in "North Atlanta" (Atlanta is the town where my grandfather eventually bought land) there was an item that "Emil Meyer and wife had a baby girl".  OK, the last name is spelled wrong but even in my senior yearbook my last name was spelled like that.  And yes, my grandparents weren't yet married at that time.  Plus they eventually had three boys and no daughters.  However what are the odds that in the same town (population maybe 500), two unrelated men would have the same first name and practically the same last name?
