Hazy Sunrise
Walked in tonight for library duty. The librarian was at the counter breaking down Lego creations. We have Lego Night for the kids once a month. Their creations are displayed on the counter with a little sign denoting the name they've given their artwork and the child's name. Before the next Lego Night we tear them down so the kids have building material for their next "objet d'art". The librarian wasn't happy. People recycle their Legos by giving them to the library for our collection. We are very grateful for all of the different pieces we can add. As of late, however, we were given multiple Lego sharks and they have become the bane of the librarian. The kids absolutely love them. So much so that they barely use the Lego building blocks. Instead they grab the little Lego people and pop them apart in order to have heads or arms to place in the shark's mouth or around the shark. Makes for a lot of tiny little pieces that have to be reassembled if you don't want to lose them. Since there wasn't much going on at the library tonight (street outside is still torn up) the librarian asked if I would work reassembling hats ->heads ->torsos ->arms ->hands ->legs. A volunteer never knows what they will be called on to do (though I draw a line at cleaning bathrooms.)
