View from the deck

Conspiracy theories aside, we all have stuff we believe in that we know isn't really backed up by fact.  You know - folk remedies, old wives tales, superstitions, etc.  Mine is that toes need sunlight to stay healthy. Neither sandles nor open-toed shoes are sufjficient - you need bare feet in full sunlight.  I adhere to this illusion because I'm the one that came up w/ it and it gives me an added reason to sit on the deck w/ my shoes off.  I haven't done much of that this summer.  Today, the weather man warned of a hot day.  The high was forecast to be 85 degrees and humidity in the 70's.  That's warm for the Northwoods.  So this morning I ran around and closed all of the windows that I had opened to bring in the cool of the night and then shut the blinds on the south east side of the house.  I got all of my outside tasks done by 9:00 a.m.   The house stayed cool w/o the A/C while I did inside stuff.  In the afternoon Whip and I went out on the deck.  I listened to an audio book while doing a crossword puzzle and sunning my feet.  Whip flopped down in the shade for a snooze.  It was a perfect day for that kind of 'activity'.
