Stop for Supper

I can't sing the praises of my water pic enough.  Today was a semi-annual cleaning by the dental hygienist.   I sat down and she asked what was new in the town (we live in the same one).  I told her the latest gossip and she asked some questions.  Eventually we settled into the task at hand. A couple of scrapes and she was finished.  More talking.  Then she polished my teeth.  More talking.  Finally flossed.  The dentist came in.  Looked around in my mouth.  Asked me to stick out my tongue and say 'ah'.  I flunked that test by breaking into giggles for some reason.  Second try went better.  Then I was sent on my way with a gift baggie of toothpaste, floss, and toothbrush.  No admonisions on brushing better.  No bleeding from where a tiny hooked pick found a pocket.  No threats if things didn't improve I'd have to see an endodentist.  Pretty sure that's all due to using that water pic on a regular basis.

Oh yes - I learned something today that I didn't know before and I will want to remember for a long long time.  'Bite Wings' is the name of all of the x-rays the dental office takes of your teeth periodically.  I'd heard the term before but thought it only referred to molar x-rays.  The dentist receptionist let me know that there is medicare supplemental insurance available in the area that also pays for one cleaning, one office visit, and one set of bite wing x-rays each year.
