Pearly Everlasting
It's embarrassing but the National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory for the Northwoods and just 60 miles south Collegetown is in a Heat Warning for today and tomorrow. The NWS doesn't have a temp limit for issuing a 'warning' or an 'advisory'. They base it on the temps the people in that area are used to. Today we had high humidity and reached a temp of 87 in the late afternoon. Humidity isn't an issue when temp are below 80 - which they were for the majority of the day. Makes the morning cool feel really nice, kinda pre-moistenes the air for easy breathing, and acts as an emollient for soft skin. The dog and I sat out on the deck when it got warmer - I tossed treats for her while listening to a new book. After the months of triple digit heat that the southern part of the U.S. has endured, our heat wave isn't worthy of an alert. Suppose that explains why the Northwoods will have a week of temps below zero but the news is jumping all over freezing temps in Florida.
