Birthday Cake

Another beautiful day in the Northwoods.   The news item of the day - right after a talk about the horrible weather elsewhere - was that Pumpkin Spice Latte's were coming back in two weeks (at some coffee chains).  The talking heads seemed to think that was a travesty akin to putting out Christmas decorations before Halloween.  (Personally I thought it meant that there can't be too many awful things going on if that was one of the top stories.)   I can understand the thinking of the coffee chains.  This has not been a pleasent summer in the southern part of the nation: major cities w/ week upon week of triple digit heat.  People are looking forward to the naturally cooler weather that Autumn brings and the harbinger of Autumn?  Pumpkin Spice Latte!  Personally I hate the stuff.  I don't like sweetened coffee nor am I a fan of flavored coffee.  Plus we are still enjoying summer in the Northwoods.  Everything has stayed fairly green despite our low precipitation this year.  Plenty of time after the state fair to start thinking about Fall.
