St. John's Wort

Brent took off in the morning for the Big City.  He'd set up a lunch date w/ friends.  It was a beautiful summer day here: high clouds, temps in the 60's, and a brisk wind out of the north.   The kind of day where you can do work, wear clothes, and not sweat.  I opened up the casement windows and funnelled the breeze through the house.  The lilacs, choke cherries, and peonies have finished blooming.  The lilies haven't opened yet.  Fortunately, the milkweed is in bloom so there still is a lovely fragrence in the air.  Lovely until the tart smell of manure wafted through.  Someone is spreading it on their fields.   Wouldn't exactly call the scent pleasent but certainly part of the rural experience.  That was replaced by a woody smoke smell tonight.   Ahhh ... the Canadian wildfires.    I suppose it's because I'm used to these that I notice the smell of the city when I drive there - burnt rubber w/ a chemical chaser.  Will take milkweed, manure, and wood smoke anytime.
