A Turkey Vulture do-si-do

4th week of the Library Summer Reading Program.  Earlier in the week, there was a Cops & Kids program out in the village park.  Tonight, after turning in their sheets on the books they read and spinning the wheel for a prize, Volunteer Colleen read them a few books in the reading 'pit'.  The first book was about the adventures of a piece of chalk.  After the books were read each child received three different colors of chalk and they could make pictures or write on any of the sidewalks along Main Street.  Colleen had procured the OK from all of the business owners previously.  Looked like fun.  Once all of the children were busy marking up the sidewalks, Librarian Kathy brought frozen flavored popsicles out to each child.  So much better than having them eat it in the library!    After closing up, I viewed the artwork.  Food for thought: some drawings looked a lot like native petroglyphs.
