Goodbye to Jormungandr and Svendfari
I called the John Deere dealer at the end of March to schedule Jormungandr and Svendfari for spring maintenance. That was the earliest I figured I could get them out through the drift in front of Sleipnir's garage door. Last year it had taken a month to get Svendfari returned to me but the service rep said since I also had the UTV this year together they would make a full load and I should get them back faster (rather than waiting until John Deere had something else to do in my direction.) He would give me a call the day before coming. Hadn't heard from him so called on Monday to make sure I was still on the list. The rep assured me I was and he knew there was a UTV and a lawn mower for pickup so pretty sure he wasn't just placating me. Today around noon I got the call. The transport guy was in my area could he pick them up in an hour? (What happened to a call the day before?) "Sure", I answered. I've had Jornumgandr out a couple of times so knew it would start w/ no problem but Svendfari had been sitting for six months. Took a little bit to wake him up but eventually he roared that he was ready for action. The transport guy was just finishing locking down both vehicles when neighbor Blake stopped by on his four-wheeler. He let me know he'd be using the chainsaw nearby to cut down trees that had been damaged in the December storm. Glad he informed me. I'd checked on a bunch of noise west of me last weekend. That turned out to be neighbor Pheil doing the same thing. Blake said he'd also like to put fertilizer on the field next to the house this week. I asked if I needed to keep the dog out of it but he said it wasn't harmful - just urea. "You could eat it." he claimed. With a name like that, think I'll pass.
