Chokecherry Blossoms
I started errands early yesterday: got groceries, stood in line for a refill from the pharmacy, checked my mail, stopped in for a latte downtown. Neighbor Mary was there having a coffee w/ her sister. She asked what I was doing and I said I was on my way out to the cemetery to pick up flowers. "Pick them up?" she queried. "Yes," I said,"I put them out before Memorial Day and pick them up afterward." She laughed and said she puts out flowers on the graves and after that they are on their own. She hadn't asked for a diatribe on what I thought of plastic 'debris' in the cemetery so kept it to myself. The pots of flowers I'd put out for Memorial Day are now back at my place. Found places for all of them. Stood on the deck and looked around. The countryside is lush in every color of green w/ the blueish hills beyond and the pale purple lilacs in bloom in the foreground. The pots make pretty spots of bright colors - though they make the pots of flowers I overwintered look pretty meager. Still experimenting w/ overwintering. I'll perfect it eventually.
