The roofers arrived just before 8. I had already tucked the car up next to Mjolnir's garage door so to have easy access out. The roofer has jobs lined up for the year but I jumped to the top of his list because my site can be accessed from county roads (i.e. no waiting a month for weight limit bans to go off the town roads). He and his team arrived in three trucks. They just had time to hang tarps off the roof when the crane arrived w/ shingle pallets. The driver manuvered close in by the garage - one of the few spots that doesn't have standing water and is flat & fairly firm. The crane unloaded and left only moments before a massive construction dumpster was brought in and deposited on the spot the crane had vacated. I was pretty impressed w/ the timing. Whip and I went out when the guys first arrived to say hi and find out if they needed anything from me. She continued to bark for a short time but then took her cue from me and relaxed. The cats though were not happy w/ all of the noises overhead. I only saw them when they would skulk around a corner to go to a new hiding place. I used the day to make the changes in the last four chapters of the town's Comprehensive Plan (which included looking up 2020 census data for the town). However, if I was going to roof buildings for a job, I think today would be the perfect sort of day to do that. Sunshine, cooling breeze, temps in the 60's, and you can see for miles. Before leaving for the day the guys swept & blew off the deck. Even the driveway seems firmer from being pressed by the weight of the trucks. Things actually look better than when they came.
