Junco

Whip looked at me w/ the goofy face only dogs can do - straight in the eyes, smile on their mouth, tongue lolling out of it to one side.  I apologized that we couldn't go out again.  I had to take off for volunteer duty and after that to a special Town Meeting.  The library was somewhat busy: made a card for a new patron, checked in/out books, updated stats, and answering the phone.  At 7 closed the library and drove directly to the town hall.  Tonight's meeting was for the town's citizens to review the updated Comprehensive Plan.  I don't know what I expected.  As I've said before unless people are angry they don't show up for these meetings.  Tonight, it was the town chairman, the head of the Planning Commission, the town clerk, and me.  I had a few changes for the document.  The head of the Commission said any changes would need to go back to the whole Planning Commission, be approved, and then we would have another Special Meeting for the people of the town.    Two things went through my mind - (1) the changes I was going to suggest would be cosmetic and (2) just as no one comes to these meetings - no one reads the Comprehensive Plan.  The only reason the town wrote one ten years ago and updated it this year was it's required before a town can make it's own ordinances.  I returned my notes to my back pocket and instead told the clerk to put in the minutes that I thought the plan was well written.  Spent another half hour gossiping.  No one else showed up and the meeting ended.  Whip and I got in our nightly constitutional.
