Gorgeous Gorge - July

I woke up around 4 a.m.  Reached over my head and hit the button on the clock radio tuned to the BBC.   Droning voices always put me to sleep.  No droning voices.  I looked.  No shining red numerals on the radio.  Power was off.  Got up, called the power company.  They estimated another hour before the problem would be fixed.  Glad I had put the lessons learned from the long outage last year into practice.  The big flashlight my sister had given me powered up and I puttered around the house until power was restored.   Good.  Had plans for the day and one thing was to make Fettuccine Alfredo.   At the beginning of the month, I'd wiped my white board calendar clean and written in the days and appointments for February - including holidays.  Can remember the big holidays but others sometimes creep up to surprise me like President's Day.   Plus there are the 'special' days like Ground Hog's Day, Valentines, Ash Wednesday, and Super Bowl Sunday that one needs to be aware of.  If you google February there are a whole host of additional observerances  including Fettuccine Alfredo Day on the 7th.  I like the stuff so picked up fettuccini, sauce, and pine nuts at the grocery store. While the noodles boiled, I chopped up a tomato, some pepparoni, and threw a handful of frozen peas in w/ the noodles.  A good lunch.   Looking forward to the next 'holidays' on my calender: February 9th - Pizza Day and February 11th - National Latte Day.
