Autumn Color

Election training today.  The County Clerk tends to conduct election worker training before big elections.  Much of it, we've all heard before.  Still not a bad idea to get a refresher since it's been months since the last election plus there were at least two new poll workers in attendance.  She then went over specific issues that had come up in the last election.  Fortunately none affected our town.  Then she went over some new items to make sure we are aware of them.  Usually the rules are reasonable and understandable to anyone giving them some thought.  However, there are two now that are downright weird and I wonder what our legislature had in mind making them law.  Once again I find myself thinking that anyone who is running for state office or is serving in state office needs to spend a day working as an election poll worker.  Suppose that's not feasible though.  Then manufacturers would want legislators to work a day on a production line, restaurateurs would want a legislator to work a day in a kitchen, clinics would want a legislator to escort patients, grocers would want a legislator to stack shelves, farmers would want a legislator to shovel manure ... wait ... judging from the latest spate of political ads, legislator's have more than enough experience doing that.
