Autumn Color

Was almost out of eggs so I called up the grocer and got a delivery.  Actually I texted brother Russell and he drove over w/ some from his chickens.  He said today and tomorrow would probably be our last really warm days for awhile.  I took a sip of coffee.  Time to do the last outside task I'd been putting off.  A task worse than bringing all those geraniums inside, moving deck furniture around, and even cleaning off the sewer filter.  It was time to remove the screens and wash the windows. Storing away the screens reminds me that I won't be able to air out the house by catching a breeze and funneling it from room to room.  I've yet to figure out a way of not leaving streaks on the glass even though I've googled it many times.  Plus the dog and cat's nose prints have an oily element that takes scrubbing.  Hopefully, this year there will be no carcasses of hapless frogs I've unsuspectedly shut a window on.  However the windows need to be cleaned so the house receives maximum passive solar heating on the cold months to come.  Fortunately, I planned the house and out buildings so I won't need a ladder.  The dog will enjoy keeping guard outside as I work.   Plus a sparkling window is a thing of beauty.

Grandma Mayer had us girls wash her windows once and insisted that wiping the windows down with vinegar and newspaper left windows streak-free. (I don't remember how they turned out but I do remember that instruction.)
