Wild Plums

By spring I'm getting tired of chili and, in my mind, chili isn't a summer time dish.  Labor Day weekend though I was rather looking forward to making a batch.  Got out the crockpot and put in a can of medium-heat chili beans, a small can of diced tomatoes w/ peppers, and a medium sized can of diced tomatoes.  Added a tablespoon of chili powder, two tablespoons of cumin, and two Lindor dark chocolate truffles.  Fried up a pound of hamburger w/ one of the onions I harvested yesterday.  Added to that some garlic, herbs de Provence, and pepper. Threw that in the crockpot too and gave it a stir.  Tasted it - hmm- added a little more chili powder.  Let it simmer on low for a few hours.  Made a bowl topped w/ cheese, a bit of shredded lettuce, and sour cream.  A great batch of chili.  That's good.  Will probably be eating it for the rest of the week on toasted buns, in an omelet, as a dip for corn chips, added to Mac and Cheese, and over wieners on a bun.  Neighbor Doug brought over some fresh corn on the cob.  Thank goodness I don't have a recipe for chili and sweet corn.
