Still some color

When I went leaf-peeping at the end of last month, my low tire pressure idiot light blinked on.  I stopped in the next day at the service station downtown and asked if the cute owner would check my tires.  He said they were all a little low on pressure and pumped them up.  He thought they lost pressure because of the cold weather but it hadn't gotten much below 50 degrees.  When the dealership changed my oil last spring they had suggested I get new tires before winter.  I asked the service guy if he would order new tires for me.  He looked at the tread and agreed it would be prudent to get new ones.  He was pretty backed up because some of the road work in town had shut him down for awhile.  It wasn't until today at 10 that I could get in for the tire change.  Had it all planned.  Would postpone breakfast until I dropped off the car and then eat at the diner down the block while I waited.   However, the diner was closed today due to a 'Covid related staff shortage'.  At least I could pick up my mail so I kept on walking around the block to the post office.  Was at the door when I remembered I'd left my box key on my car fob.  Our village is so small we only have the one service station and the one diner but on the plus side the post mistress knows everyone so I asked at the front desk if she could give me whatever was in my box.  I walked across the street to the laundromat.   As good a place as any to wait  w/ it's bright lights, pleasent soapy smells, and the sound of waves crashing against  the machine's glassed doors.  Read a magazine, did a crossword puzzle and, after an hour, ambled back to the station where he was just finishing up on my car.   Except for being hungry, it all worked out rather well.,
