Haven Sign

Woke up a little after 5 a.m.  Threw on some clothes to check if I could see the aurora.  No - too overcast.  The moon was trying to shine through so there was enough light for Whip and I to indulge a walk in the dark though.    The cloud cover had kept the night time temps above freezing so it was pretty nice outside and as the sun came up the clouds blew away.  I hung out my wash to dry.  As it gets colder it takes longer and longer for them to dry outside even on a sunny and windy day like today.  Decided I needed candy for Halloween so drove to the grocery.  Growing up on the farm we never had trick or treaters but as my father would say "That's no reason not to have candy."  I figure it's a good tradition to keep.   Drove with the windows down in the car.  Once home the dog and I had lunch out on the deck.   This afternoon I mowed the trails.  We've had a killing frost but that doesn't stop the grass and small plants from growing again as soon as it's warm enough.  If  I keep paths cut short my shoes aren't so wet after walks.  Freezing weather will soon put a stop to most of these activities.  I wanted to take advantage of one of our last warm days.  Tonight I found a tick crawling up my neck.  There's a lot to be said for the cold weather too.
