Leaf Peeping from the Ski Hill

The county's annual autumn festival was this weekend.  For it the ski hill opens up and runs it's lift so people can easily get to the top of the highest point  and leaf peep.  The festival is planned for the same weekend each year so sometimes the fall colors are already past their prime, sometimes they are at peak, and sometimes (like this year) the trees have just begun to turn.  Saturday was mostly overcast and windy.  Hoped for better weather today.  The paper said the lift would be running from 11-3 but the ski hill's website said 10-4.  Figured just after 10 a.m. would be a great time to go.  It was.  Parked close to the chalet and no one was in line for the lift.  I am afraid of heights so the ski lift feels pretty exciting.  However, I don't think it ever gets more than 20 feet off the ground.  If I fell I figure I'd probably only break a bunch of bones.   The sky  was already clouding over again, not a lot of color, but you can't beat the view of the counntryside from up there.  Got my pictures and picked up a pumpkin on the way out.  Looks good by my doorway and reminds me of my little adventure.
