I'm between audio books so listened to Public Radio as I drove into town. The subject was 'Fast Fashion' - something I had never heard of. The on-line company Shein was mentioned multiple times as a purveyor of this kind of clothing. Hadn't heard of them either. From what I understand 'Fast Fashion' means it isn't based on seasonal clothes lines but on whatever style is trending currently. A brief wave of anxiety swept over me as I realized I hadn't put anything in my budget for high fashion. It ebbed away as I remembered my idea of 'fashion' is new jeans and t-shirt - plus I've never made a budget. (I swear I'm not losing my mind.) Basically, Shein's business model is if you see a celebrity such as a Kardashian wearing it this month, you can be wearing a cheap knock-off by next month. The only pictures I've seen of Kim's (I know there are more of them but don't remember their names) clothes are bordering on the risque and they would be unwearable by most people. Hmmm ... since Kim can not only walk in those clothes but also keep certain body parts covered, she must be more talented than I've given her credit for.
