Daylilies

Not much in the news (that I saw) about the Molly Seidel's bronze medal in the Olympic Woman's Marathon.    So I'll recap.  I watched only the final four miles.  There were four women running far ahead of the rest of the pack by that time but Molly was one of them.   No one expected her to be with the leaders since, while she had been a collegiate cross country runner, this was only the third marathon she had participated in.  Also she came in second at the U.S. trials.   She knew Japan could be hot this time of year so she practiced in Arizona but she's from Wisconsin.  As a fellow gutsy Midwesterner, I was rooting for her when she crossed the finish line 26 seconds behind the winner.  The Midwest in general is rarely considered newsworthy except during presidential elections.  Those on the East Coast and West Coast just see it as a vast wasteland they fly over to reach the opposite side.  As the women ran, the NBC color commentator mentioned that Molly was born in Wisconsin.  Failing to think of anything else to say at the moment, threw in "What else is there to do in Wisconsin but run?"
