The dog and I sit out on the deck every day. It was cool enough this afternoon that we sat out on the sunny side. I read a book and the dog watches for her arch nemesis: a nine-striped ground squirrel that has an access hole in the middle of the lawn. So far the ground squirrel has been able to evade the dog, make it to the bird feeders and start putting up extra food for winter. Their little 'cat and mouse' routine is entertaining until the dog and I go back into the house. Whip can see the ground squirrel's hole from her spot in the foyer and barks whenever it emerges.
