End of the Day

Whip has worms.  Not all that surprising given the fetid bones, dead rat, and swamp water she's taken in over this spring.  Called the vet clinic this morning.  Hoped there was a generic dewormer w/o the necessity of determining the type of nematode.  The receptionist said no need to bring dog or 'sample' in to them. (Yes!)  She went on to say I could pick up a pack which had three month's worth of pills.  Since I figured this wouldn't be the last small mammal, stagnant water, and dead stuff Whip would ingest over the summer, I said I'd take a whole pack.  Drove to the next town over and stopped at the vet's first.  There was a bit of commotion going on in the waiting room so I picked up the bag they had for me and left as quickly as reasonable.  Did my grocery shopping and stopped off at a drive-thru for a burger before heading home.  This drive-thru isn't known for being speedy so while I waited I got out the box I'd picked up from the vet's to read the instructions.  Was surprised the instructions said to apply topically instead of being a chewable treat.  More surprise when the front of the box said it was for a 4  - 16 lb animal.  Then I saw the big lettering "For Cats Only".  I was only a mile or two from the vet's office.  Walked in w/ the unopened box and my invoice stamped "Paid" and explained that I have a dog and not a cat.  Seems the front desk person was new and hadn't differentiated between wormers for cats and those for dogs.   A vet tech came out and showed her how to cancel the old transaction and create a new one.  She threw in an extra month of  medicine for my trouble.  Wasn't that big a deal for me to return it but appreciated the nice gesture.
