Sunrise - December 29

When I checked my pants pockets before putting them in the wash machine, my fingers went right through.  Most of the bottom of the pocket had been chewed out.  I pulled it right side out and noticed a slight reddish stain.  I put all of the clues together.  The pants had been sitting on the floor of the laundry for a couple of days.  I'd stripped them off after a walk w/ the dog when they were wet from the snow.  I'd probably left a dog treat in the pocket (they are that color red).  Usually they don't stain but maybe they got wet too.  My first thought was a mouse - no - make that mice - gnawed a hole to get to the treat.  Yuch!  Made a mental note to leave the utility door in the laundry open at night so the cats could patrol.  Then I noticed there were still a couple of sunflower seeds on top of their container.  I had fed the birds a couple of days ago and remember the seeds falling out.  No self respecting mouse would leave sunflower seeds untouched.  The clues now pointed to Whip.  If I don't pull the foyer door to the laundry tight, she's figured out how to open it.  She probably smelled the treat and worked at the pocket until she got the treat out.  Always fun to figure out life's little mysteries (and better yet to know the answer isn't vermin.)
