Sunrise East of the Water Tower

Hamish MacBeth died last year.  I hadn't realized it until I was wondering why a new book about the Highland bobby hadn't come out.  Hamish sprang from the imagination of Marion Gibbons (a/k/a M.C. Beaton).  She started out writing Romance novels but, on vacation, read a mystery and decided she could do better.  The Hamish Macbeth series started in 1985 (35 books).  She simultaneously began writing another mystery series about character Agatha Raisin who moved to the Cotswolds (30 books).    M.C. Beaton died on December 30th at age 83 after a short illness. Her publisher said there might still be some posthumously published books.  I'll miss Hamish but still have friends Mme. Ramotswe, Joe Leaphorn, and Stephanie Plum (among others) to snuggle up w/ by the fire and read about.
