1978 - Basket Quilt

This design was based off a quilt made in New York in 1875.  The Industrial Revolution made mass producing blankets cheap but quilts remain attractive, practical, and creative.  I decided to use this design because here in the Northwoods it was below zero last night and will be again tonight.  A nice fluffy quilt made by my grandmother has been keeping me warm.   First day of issue for this stamp was March 8, 1978 in Charleston, West Virginia.  41.3 million stamps were printed.  Scott # 1745-48

(I'd be OK w/ the Postal Service also paying homage to the electric blanket.)
