Sunrise on the Winter Solstice

Yes, that's the sun.  It's having problems finding space between cloud banks to shine.  It is rising well south of the village water tower at Winter Solstice and it won't stay above the horizon long today.  It will continue to rise in this general location until January.  Then the point of sunrise will begin to creep east and by February the change will be at a noticeable trot.  Ancient cultures built monuments to mark this day  - Stonehenge, Machu Picchu.  Seems we really should celebrate it too.  Invite me to your next Solstice Party.
