Snowy Landscape

The rain switched over to snow around sunrise.  There have been advisories/warnings/alerts for this coming blizzard since Saturday.   Just before any storm there is always a run on stores for supplies.  If you are possibly going to be stuck at home for a few days, you want to be prepared.   However this morning the people out and about weren't hurrying.  Two trucks stopped on main street so the occupants could talk to each other through open windows.  People in the library were browsing for books and using the internet.  At the post office people were gossiping about family they had seen over Christmas.   My own errands for the day could have waited until later in the week.   I just felt a need to defy the media's warning to stay home.   I think that same gut reaction got most of us driving around in the storm this morning.  Of course by early afternoon the accumulating snow, the rising wind, and the resulting lessening of visibility had us scurrying back home to wait out the rest of the squall.  We may be tough Northwoodsmen but we aren't stupid.
