Cup Plant
The library puts on special interest activities occasionally. Often it's on Wednesday night when the library is open later - until 7. That's also my volunteer shift. Tonight a local author who has compiled three books gave a talk. Her first book was for the Centennial of our county. The next two were pictures, backgrounds, and letters from local people who fought in WWI. There was a good turnout to hear her talk which mainly focused on how she collected her information. She also spent a few minutes on the new book she is putting together on immigrants that settled in the area between the end of the Civil War and the early 1900's. She talked past our 7 p.m. closing and afterwards there was a book signing plus people stood around to drink coffee and munch on cookies. I stayed to lock up and didn't get out until 8:30. Didn't mind - got to see friends, talk w/ the author, and the left over cookies went home w/ me.
