Storm Clouds
The air this morning was wonderfully scented by milkweed blossoms and other summer flowers in bloom. It was intoxicating. I wanted to get all outside tasks done before forecasted thunderstorms rolled in. The storms hit in waves - the first one just before noon. Bad enough that storm watchers parked across the road in Doug's field to check for possible developing tornadoes. Some hail but otherwise just rain, wind, and lightening. Tonight was a Friends of the Library meeting. I suggested to the group that we hold a Book Burning - an idea which met w/ mixture of emotions. There are some books donated to the library which we can't use, will never sell, and we can't even give away free of charge. At a Book Burning we could admonish people to come and save a book (for a quarter), to throw a book in the fire (for a dollar), and get free press. Could ask the Fire Department to hold it in their parking lot. An 'outside the box' idea that some thought sent the wrong message. Had the windows open on the way home from the meeting and I drove slowly. The fields of corn I pass are tasseling. I do adore the smell of corn pollen.
