Ghost Pipe

Another perfect day in the Northwoods.  I saw these little plants just beginning to emerge from the forest floor yesterday so I went looking for them today.   Ghost pipe a/k/a Indian pipe reminds me of orchids.  Both are parasitic plants, both are hard to locate, but both are well worth the search.  There are some orchids that should be blooming about now in the swamp.  I'll go looking for them tomorrow.

P.S.  As w/ orchids, these little guys shouldn't be dug up and moved to your garden.  Both wild orchids and saprophyric plants need specialized environments, hence why you need to search for them in the first place.
