Yesterday I picked up a new book-on-tape from the library - Tocqueville and the American Experiment. Thought it was apropos for the 4th of July. Sat out on the deck and listened to the first two hours (it's twelve hours long total). Thought it might be too esoteric but it's been quite interesting so far. Indy and I then took a walk. I needed to work out a perplexing problem and the walk did the trick (it usually does). I took pictures of dragonflies having sex. Didn't mean to take smut photos but all the little buggers seemed to be in the mood. A storm hit around supper time but I wasn't planning on grilling out: had a bologna sandwich and cranberry/walnut salad. Once the rain stopped the fog crept up. Made the fireflies look like little fairy lights throughout the meadow and enhanced the noise of fireworks going off along the ridge. Happy Independence Day!
