Digging the water line

I opened the front door to a burly man in a sweat-stained t-shirt.  "Did you see where they put that line!" he fumed as he walked past me. "Right where I need to go."  He opened the door to the laundry and walked on through.  The knock on the door had awakened me from an impromptu nap on the couch or I might have taken umbrage w/ his not waiting for me to invite him in.  Figured he was a subcontractor checking where the hose from the well entered my house.  He was angry because he could see  the electrician had buried a line outside right over where he would have to run his line for water.  My general contractor was on-site and talked to him for a moment.  Suddenly all was OK.  The backhoe was unloaded and dug a trench across the side lawn deep enough to be below the frost line.  Digging near both buildings had to be done by hand anyway so no existing wires/pipes/hoses were disturbed.  They laid the water hose and then filled in the trench.  The area was left strewn w/ large rocks (unearthed from the glacial till six feet down) and uneven.  Not an issue - this won't be the last breach of decorum my lawn will have to endure before construction end.
