My house built in 2004 is no long up to electrical code. Not dire enough that it can't be grandfathered in but did have to put in 'peds' to feed my house and the new construction. I called the Digger's Hotline first. Then the electricians came out and it appeared the youngest one was given the dirty task of digging down to find the buried feed into my house. He made a trench from the transformer out to the driveway. Meanwhile the other guys constructed a backboard and mounted the electrical boxes to it. The head guy asked where I wanted it placed but since he didn't really have much leeway I just asked to position it so my snowplow guy wouldn't hit it. He suggested that most people plant a bush in front of these things so they don't have to see them. I wasn't wild about the idea and a bush would be a further impediment to traffic. Think I'll find some hedge bindweed, bur cucumber, or Virginia creeper in the field and plant a sprig by the poles. In no time at all it will all disappear into a mass of purple, white, or red flowers and foliage (depending on which plant I use.) Maybe I'd better ask how often anyone needs access to those boxes first.
