T - Thistle

Words w/ 'st' in the same syllable such as Christmas and Thistle often pronounce only the 's'.  Thistle originates from the Dutch and German word of Distel and the Norse word Thistill.  It came into use in English before 900.  Christmas is a melding of the term Cristes Maesse (Christ's mass).

















Snow started around 8 a.m. I jumped in the car and went out to do a couple of errands. Other people had the same idea. While everyone was friendly I noticed no one was stopping to 'shoot the breeze'. The snow continued until around 5 p.m. Think we got around 7 or 8 inches. Looks more like Christmas every day!
