Spreading Potash
My neighbor Blake came over yesterday to say he planned on spreading potash on my fields today. He'd heard that I noticed there were fewer hay bales per acre on my land than on his adjacent fields. He said he'd spread potash last year on his fields so he thought it would improve the output on mine. I know potash is expensive (around $300/ton). Got me to thinking about my neighbor. He and I have only a handshake deal on his taking hay off of my fields. I'm glad he has confidence in my character that I would neither sell the hay rights nor the land out from under him. Of course, his ace-in-the-hole is he allows me to walk his swamp. I wouldn't do anything to upset that deal either.
